本套教材包含三个级别：初级、中级、高级。这三个级别的内容自成体系而深度逐渐增加。每个级别划分为若干单元，每个单元都侧重不同的语音要点。每个单元共有两页，左页是讲解和举例，右页是相应的练习。 初级的50个单元分为四个部分：一部分（Section A）讲解英语中42个音素的发音及拼写；第二部分（Section B）讲解单词中的音节和重音；第三部分（Section C）讲解短语、句子和语法，涉及连读、节奏、强读和弱读、缩略式等语音知识；第四部分（Section D）主要讲解实际对话中的语调。第五部分（Section E）是一些实用的语音学习参考资料，内容包括：音标表、各种语言使用者的发音指南、音素对比、英文字母、数字的读法、地名的发音、同音词等。书末附有各个单元练习的参考答案。 中级的60个单元划分为三个部分：一部分（Section A）讲解单个音素的发音
