Already well-established in the fields of fashion, journalistic, and portrait photography in his native Berlin, Bernd Obermann moved to New York City in 1996 to experience the city’s vibrant mix of culture, ethnicity, and race. For the next five years he ventured out of his apartment nearly every day, camera in hand, to explore what New York had to offer.
