《新月集》是泰戈尔的一部以儿童生活和情趣为主旨的英文散文诗集，由翻译家郑振铎先生翻译。出版于1913年，共收录了40首诗歌，主要译自诗人1903年出版的孟加拉文诗集《儿童集》。在这本诗集中，诗人采用了三重的叙述视角：孩子、母亲和诗人。每一首小诗都是一个纯粹的视角，或是母亲，或是孩子，又或是诗人自己。诗人将抒情与哲理结合，用清丽动人的语言，为读者带来宁静、温暖的阅读感受。它特殊的隽永的艺术魅力，把我们带到了一个纯洁美丽的儿童世界，勾起了我们对于童年生活的美好回忆和向往。

英语是当今世界应用最广泛的语言之一。进入21世纪后。开放的中国在国际舞台上的地位越来越引人瞩目，在更大范围内和更深程度上参与经济全球化进程。为了跟上时代的步伐，方便广大英语学习者学习和使用英语，我社重新修订、出版了《简明英汉小词典》，收常用词条16000余条；同时重新组织专家学者编写、出版了《新编简明汉英小词典》，内收常用词目29000余条。两本词典包含了我国中学教学大纲和大学英语四、六级词汇，兼收少量科技用词，同时吸收了一些新词新语。 现根据读者的需要，对已出版的上述两词典合并，出版《新编简明英汉一汉英小词典》。本词典的“英汉部分。”

全书收词300个，范围涉及日常用品、水果、动物、颜色、形状、数字、年月日等。每一个词配有一幅图，插图风格活泼，色彩明快。每一个词还配有简单的英文解释。全书按英文字母顺序排序。 为适合中国国情，计划进行必要加工： 1. 给出国际音标 2. 给出中文对应词 3.给出汉语拼音。 牛津出版社还有一本是为5—7岁儿童编写的词典，名为Oxford First Dictionary ，我馆亦可考虑出版。出此考虑暂将本词典取名为《牛津英汉儿童开智词典》（第二本词典可叫《牛津英汉儿童启蒙（或益智）词典》）。

本词典收录了51000多个词条，包括词语400余个，并有用法和语法注释。本词典采用袖珍开本，小巧精美，经济实用。中英文释义简明、清晰，音标准确。本词典收词量大，新词语多。释义既准确又简洁。语法注释简练。词语注音详略适当。本书采用了我国读者熟悉的国际音标给词语注音，正文前面的“发音符号例释”有详细说明。
