繁体字、异体字是大陆地区汉语使用者经常遇到的问题。因为繁体、异体与现在通行的简化字之间的字际关系比较复杂，很多简化字对应于多个繁体字形，很多正体字与异体字之间更存在交叉、包含等关系，使一般读者在读写繁体字时存在困难。本书根据国家语委新颁布的《规范汉字表》后附《简化字繁体字异体字对照表》编写，注音、释义、举例。梳理简化字与繁体字、异体字的复杂对应关系。书后附录多种，包括一对多繁体字简表，容易读错、写错的古代人名、地名等，颇为实用。
