本书是作者在博士论文的基础上修改而成的。 “Logic”一词富有极丰富的文化内涵，对Logic在中国的传播与接受的个案研究，能较好地服务于本研究的目的本研究在翻译研究从传统的形式主义方法转向文化研究的国际学术背景下，以Logic为例，从历史的视角探讨理论语词的翻译问题。着重以Logic东渐过程中不同时期的不同译者群体对Logic的典型汉译为例，试图在展现Logic在中国传播的路线的同时，揭示Logic如何通过“格义”与中国传统思想发生冲突与交融，并在此过程中发生变形，直至被中国文化吸纳并成为中国文化的一部分，并引发“中国现代逻辑学”的建立和完善。本课题在中国学术寻求自身发展在国际学科、学术发展的学术背景下具有积极的建构意义。
